The Era Of Shameless Selfpromotion Win Over Clients With Video Messages

This is not the era to be shy. We are living in a time where everyone has the same chance to show off their looks, talents, products or services. Whatever it is you are selling, the technology is there to strut your stuff to the masses.

The first step, non-threatening approach is to get listed on Linked In or Facebook. You upload your best portrait and write about your accomplishments. Tell a lot or tell a little. The goal is to get your name and face out there.

Are you bold enough to take it one step further? Would you consider sending a video clip to your target customers?

If a picture is worth a thousand words, whats a video worth? Apparently it can be worth a lot! Many novice videos have gone viral on YouTube? If a video goes viral that means it has been viewed by thousands of people without a cost to the creator. FYI: Thats how little Justin Bieber from Winnipeg got started! It is a challenge to create something that will go viral. It has to have something globally intriguing. However if you have something to say that might interest people in your own business network, its not so hard to a small piece of the YouTube pie.

If you are capable of operating a video camera and comfortable speaking into it, you can create a video message that entices people to visit your website. (If you are sending people to your website, youd better have something worthwhile when they get there.)

A few months ago, I bought a video camera with a remote control and tripod. My first two videos where for my website HYPERLINK "http://www.marketingedge.ab.ca/"(www.marketingedge.ab.ca) so they needed to be more like a commercial. After writing the text, filming myself over one week, I had two different video clips to post. (I also used ANIMOTOto spice it up with music)

I wont lie to you. The learning curve was steep. It took time and stamina to learn the equipment, programs and perform the text I wrote for myself. After it was all said and done, I felt like I had put myself through school and learned a new trade.

Taking the video idea one step further, I thought why not send out a video message directly to my database of potential clients? So I developed a 30 second message that is posted on Youtube.com. Not so that it will go viral but so that I can send it as a link to my database.

Its super easy to do. You just sign up and upload. Then copy and paste the link into emails. I send the link with a message that says:Please click here for a special video message from Karen Hope. Who could resist clicking??

Call it shameless? Call it bold? But folks, its the era of shameless self-promotion - Make yourself the video star of your industry before someone else does!
