India (FreePressBox.com) Mar 27th, 2012 --

As a professional athlete there will certainly be risks for injuries in every game and for Miguel Cabrera, a serious eye injury was avoided because of wearing sunglasses.

Miguel Cabrera, a professional baseball player for the USA Detroit Tigers, had a close call with a ground ball that hit him on the area of his right eye. The force of the impact was enough to cause a small fracture to his orbital bone, the bone below his eye. If not for the sunglasses he was wearing, the injury could have been worse.

The sunglasses Cabrera was wearing saved him from a serious eye injury that could cost him the whole season but instead, only got eight stitches under his right eye and a layoff close to one week.

He is very lucky, if not because of the sunglasses he was wearing during the game, he might be dealing with something serious, quipped Lainie Anderson, Marketing Director of The Sunglass Fix, a company that sells replacement lenses for glasses.

Baseball is certainly one sport where you can play while wearing sunglasses. Baseball is mostly played out in the field and under the sun. Sometimes a batter might hit a fly ball that goes up high into the sky. Wearing sunglasses will certainly help you see it and block out the glare from the sun, added Ms. Anderson. This is why Miguel Cabrera wore sunglasses on that eventful game, to see the ball better so it will be easy for him to follow its path and catch it.

There are some sports where you cannot wear sunglasses because of the nature of the sport. Baseball is one sport where you can wear protective eyewear out on the field because it is a non-contact sport, similar to Cricket. Australia sunglasses are very popular due to our highly intense sun, especially when youre out on the field for prolonged periods of time.

Well you dont really need to wait for something similar to what happened to Miguel Cabrera to say that sunglasses could have saved your life, if youre playing cricket, baseball or your favourite field sport Lainie Anderson added. Wearing polarized lenses during games can protect your eyes, not to mention that they can improve your performance as you are well protected from the glare of the sun and unnecessary reflections off metal surfaces. As a baseball player, you can certainly follow the path of the ball and make that crucial catch and get your team the win.

Every day you play wearing sunglasses under the sun protects your eyes. Every day you wear your sunglasses helps protect your eyes.
