New V8 Engine To Power 2014 Chevrolet Corvette C7

The all-new 2014 Chevrolet Corvette C7 is getting a new engine, and John L Sullivan Chevrolet in Roseville, CA has all the details Nov 1st, 2012.

United States (FreePressBox.com) Nov 1st, 2012 --

Chevrolet is set to unveil the completely redesigned 2014 Chevrolet Corvette at the Detroit Auto Show in January, but the automaker recently leaked which engine is set to power the iconic sports car. John L. Sullivan Chevrolet has all the details of the engine the promises to deliver the power Corvette enthusiasts expect while making it the most fuel efficient Corvette ever.

The 2014 Chevrolet Corvette C7 will be powered by a 6.2-liter V8 dubbed LT1, and is the first in General Motors (GM) Gen V family of block V8 engines. Although the numbers are not official, preliminary performance numbers rate the LT1 as generating 450 horsepower and 450 lb.-ft. of torque. Those numbers mark an increase of 20 horsepower and 26 lb.-ft. of torque from the Corvettes previous C6 generation.

GMs impressive engine technologies deliver an increase in power and somehow manage to make the C7 the most fuel efficient of any car in the Corvettes storied history. EPA certified estimates will not be released until closer to the 2014 Corvette C7s debut, but early estimates show the C7 as returning 26 mpg highway.

The engine is not the only thing that has been upgraded in the 2014 Chevrolet Corvette C7. The seventh generation is set to refresh and redefine the Corvette name.

With the new Corvette, we set out to build a world-challenging sports car with design, refinement, efficiency and driver engagement that is second to none. The result is a truly all-new Corvette. There are only two carryover parts from the C6 used in the C7 the cabin air filter and the rear latch for the removable roof panel, said Tadge Juechter, Corvette chief engineer.

This mentality is seen in every facet of the new Corvette, right down to the emblem itself, which was redesigned for the C7. The all-new, seventh-generation Corvette deserved an all-new emblem, said Ed Welburn, GM vice president of global design. The new Crossed Flags design reflects the character of the next Corvette. The flags are much more modern, more technical, and more detailed than before underscoring the comprehensive redesign of the entire car.
