J.D. Power and Associates Automotive Performance, Execution and Layout (APEAL) Study ranked the 2012 Chevrolet Volt as the best compact car.
J.D. Power and Associates APEAL Study examines consumers responses to their new vehicles after 90 days of ownership, basing comments into eight categories: engine/transmission; ride, handling and braking; comfort/convenience; seats; cockpit/instrument panel; heating, ventilation and cooling; sound system; and styling/exterior.
The Volt is the top-selling plug-in vehicle in the United States for the first 6 months of 2012. In the first half of this year, GM has sold 8,817 Volts, a 221% increase from the previous year. The Chevrolet Volt is estimated to run 38 miles on a full-charge before the gas-powered engine kicks in, allowing an additional 375 miles on a full tank of gas.
The other Chevrolet models to win the top spot in their segments were the 2012 Sonic and Avalanche in best sub compact car and large pickup, respectively.
