Fords Newest Innovation A 10 Liter Engine Will Be Available At Marketplace Ford Next Year

Ford’s latest engine, a tiny 1.0 liter, 3-cylinder EcoBoost should be available in the United States in the coming years. It has already proven very successful in Europe. Aug 23rd, 2012.

United States (FreePressBox.com) Aug 23rd, 2012 --

Marketplace Ford is excited for the latest innovation in engine development from Ford to make its way to America. This amazing new engine is a huge step towards making more fuel efficient vehicles easily available to the general public. The Ford 1.0 liter 3-cylinder EcoBoost engine is less than half the displacement of most engines on the market and puts out horsepower and torque ratings that rival engines 60 80% larger! Even with its diminutive displacement, the little 3-cylinder manages to crank out 125 horsepower. Thats more than sufficient to power a small car like the Ford Focus in which it is currently offered as an option. Really the only noticeable side effect of the one-liter is greatly increased fuel efficiency. The engine gets around 49 MPG under normal driving conditions!

The one-liter engine has been hugely popular in Europe where gas prices tend to be higher than here in the States. Ford says that since its introduction earlier this year, nearly 25% of all Ford Focus sales in Europe have featured the 3-cylinder. After such great success in Europe, Ford will offer the downsized engine in America as early as next year. And with gas prices continuing to rise across the country, expectations are that it will be just as popular over here.

Customers can expect to see this engine offered in the Ford Focus at first and possibly branching out to the Fiesta and other small cars as well. In compact cars like these, the small, turbocharged engine will put out hybrid-like MPGs and enough power to keep the cars fun to drive. Keep an eye out for this option in the near future. Marketplace Ford expects to see plenty of these in inventory as soon as they are available.
