Graettinger, Iowa (September 10, 2012) Energy Panel Structures (EPS), a recognized manufacturer of pre-engineered buildings, reaped a number of awards together with their construction partners. These include first place in three categories for the 2012 Structural Insulated Panel Association Building Excellence Awards and the National Frame Building Association 2011 Building of the Year award.
The Coventry Senior Living building in Mahtomedi, Minnesota won in the SIPA Awards' Multifamily Category, while the Lemke Residence in Hampton, Iowa was the winner in the Single Family Homes over 3,000 Square Feet Category. Freehill in Forrest, Illinois was also hailed as the best in the Agricultural category.
Both Coventry Senior Living and Lemke Residence feature six-inch structural insulated panel (SIP) walls and ten-inch SIP roofs. Coventry Senior Living has a Home Energy Rating (HERS) Index of 48, while the Lemke home has a HERS Index of 32. The Freehill building has eight-inch and 22-foot tall SIP walls and a 29 gauge zinc-coated galvanized steel exterior.
Meanwhile, NFBA recognized the building constructed for Jim Lilienthal and Kraig Timmerman in Durant, Iowa as the 2011 Building of the Year. The facility has a 100 feet x 150 feet clear span seed storage and and a 36 feet x 24 feet seed treatment room. It was recognized at the 2012 Frame Building Expo in St. Louis.
