Ford has recently announced its record-breaking addition to the plug-in hybrid world. The all-new 108-MPGe C-MAX Energi plug-in hybrid achieves an EPA-certified 620 mile driving range. That means drivers can get from Birmingham to Orlando, New York to Detroit, L.A. to Phoenix, and Chicago to Memphisall without having to stop at the pump to waste time or money. The C-MAX Energi achieves this through a combination of the power stored in the vehicles superior lithium-ion battery and just one tank of gasoline.
The Toyota Prius plug-in and the Chevy Volt cannot compare to the all-new C-MAX Energi. The Prius gets only a 540 mile range, and the Volt achieves a mere 380 miles.
John Davis, C-MAX chief engineer, proudly explained, C-MAX Energi is Americas most efficient utility vehicle, a great symbol of how Ford gives customers the power to choose leading fuel-efficiency across our lineup with gas prices spiraling upwards of 5 a gallon in some parts of the country. The C-MAX Energis leading range also means customers can spend more time on the road and more money on their priorities instead of at the gas pump.
In electric mode, the C-MAX Energi can get up to 21 miles, more than is generally necessary for the commute to and from work, meaning drivers can do their daily commutes without spending a cent on gas. On the other hand, the Prius plug-in only gets 6 miles on all electric, not even a third of the range of the C-MAX Energi.
The C-MAX Energi does not sacrifice quality for quantity, however. With 195 hp, the C-MAX Energi is a surprising strong hybrid, delivering 60 more hp than the Prius plug-in hybrid. It also has some of the technology that Ford fans have come to know and love, such as the new hands-free lift gate and active park assist.
