On Tuesday, DonorsChoose.org, a web-based charity that helps students in need, announced that Kia Motors has made a commitment of 1 million to public schools. This is the first time the online charity has teamed up nationwide with an automotive dealership. Kias donation helps to launch the Double Your Impact campaign, funding a massive amount of projects to public schools in the Kia dealership communities, and in communities around the Kia headquarters in California and the assembly plant in Georgia.
Just as the title of the campaign states, regular citizens can double their impact, as Kia will match, dollar for dollar, any contributions made on the website, up to that 1 million pledged. The money raised will help buy books, microscopes, band instruments, and many other materials, as well as help fund activities such as field trips. Participating schools post wish lists, or projects in need of funding up to 600, and Kia will match all donations made to each school.
Byung Mo Ahn, group president and CEO of Kia Motors America and Kia Motors Manufacturing in Georgia, said "Kia Motors is the fastest growing car company in the U.S. over the last five years, and one of our company's core values 'Globality' teaches us to strive to become a respected global corporate citizen, which drives our company to contribute to a better future. Kia is committed to making a difference and is proud to be the first automotive brand to establish a national philanthropic partnership with DonorsChoose.org to help provide school supplies for children most in need, while supporting all of the communities across the country that we call home."
Casey Kia is thrilled to be a part of this philanthropic endeavor and wishes the best to all the participating public schools nationwide. Stay connected with all of Kias efforts through Caseys Twitter or Facebook.
