Bmw Of Bowling Green Participates In Newspaper In Education Program

BMW of Bowling Green recently took part in the Newspaper in Education program, donating newspapers to a local fifth grade class to encourage learning outside of the classroom. Oct 26th, 2012.

United States (FreePressBox.com) Oct 26th, 2012 --

Brett Denver, General Manager of BMW of Bowling Green, understands the importance of the written word and how real-world reading materials like a newspaper can improve the reading and comprehension abilities of people of all ages, especially children. As a result, Brett was more than happy to have his dealership participate in the Newspaper in Education program in Bowling Green, Kentucky.

Through Newspaper in Education, BMW of Bowling Green is able to donate newspapers every week to a local school. The school and class they chose to sponsor was the fifth grade Language Arts class at Jody Richards Elementary. Now the students receive the Bowling Green Daily News every week.

Kim Taylor, the fifth grade teacher at Jody Richards, says that, My students really enjoy getting newspapers each week and that students look forward to completing the Kid Scoop activitiesWe also like to use the newspaper for spotting spelling and vocabulary words.

In addition to the fun, kid-geared activities, the newspapers also allow students the opportunity to do real-world learning and to see that what they learn in the classroom extends to adult life. When children are able to see that the vocabulary words they are learning that week are written in an article, they will be reassured of the value and necessity of their education.

BMW of Bowling Green and Newspaper in Education are proud to support local schools and bright, young minds in the Bowling Green area. In particular, Brett emphasized the importance of teachers and their role in the success of their students. When visiting the fifth grade class at Jody Richards, Brett told the class to always listen to their teacher and then asked who the best teacher was. He was pleased when everyone turned around and pointed to their very own teacher, Ms. Kim Taylor.
