Bill Shultz Chevrolet Will Be Available To Make Repairs On Recalled Chevy Cruzes

Chevrolet will be making two voluntary recalls on the Cruze compact cars for issues that could cause complications. Vehicles affected by this recall include the 2011 and 2012 model year Chevy Cruze built between October 2, 2009 and May 31, 2012.

Cruzes built between October 2, 2009 and May 14, 2012 are under inspection for a potential problem with the secondary bracket for the fuel tank strap. The belief is that in the event of an accident, the welds on this bracket could have the potential to fail. This could allow the fuel tank to come lose under the right circumstances. Any Cruzes with this issue will have the welds inspected and proper fasteners added if necessary.

Cruzes built between October 2, 2009 and May 31, 2012 are under recall for engine shield design that could lead to excess accumulation of oil. Chevrolet will address this issue by modifying the shield to discourage the accumulation of oil and any possibility of engine fires that could result. Cruzes with manual transmissions will also have protective tape added to the electronic power steering wiring harness as further preventative measures.
