Bel Marra Health Supports A Recent Study Revealing That Women Have A Lower Risk Of Heart Failure

United States (FreePressBox.com) Mar 12th, 2012 --

Bel Marra Health, well known for offering high-quality, specially formulated vitamins and nutritional supplements, supports a recent study from the European Journal of Heart Failure that says that women slightly edge men when it comes to heart failure mortality.

In general, women included in the study were older, more likely to have a history of hypertension, and less likely to have a history of heart disease than men. They were also more likely to have diabetes and atrial fibrillation.

Spokesperson for the European University of Madrid Manuel Martinez-Sells M.D. says that "Compared with men, women with heart failure had lower all-cause mortality over three years.

This information takes into account that most of the time, study populations are dominated by men , even though more than half of patients in clinical practice are women, and variables, such as age can make a difference when it comes to gender (on survival rates).

The study involved data from 31 studies totaling 41,949 patients in the Meta-Analysis Global Group in Chronic Heart Failure (MAGGIC) study. The differing factor was that over a third of the participants were women.

Martinez-Sells says some of the results are very sobering. During three years of follow-up, 25.3% of women and 25.7% of men died.

CEO of Bel Marra Nutritionals, Jim Chiang says these numbers are staggering, with Heart Disease being one of the leading causes of death, it becomes imperative to begin preventative measures to try and ensure we knock some of these numbers down.
