Welcome to our third issue of "A Wave From Atoll Explorer", our way of keeping you up-to-date on the happenings in our corner of paradise until you are able to come back and enjoy some sunny and warm days in the Maldives.
We are proud to announce even more updates and improvements for Atoll Explorer and we greatly appreciate the positive feedback received from many of our guests. It has been a pleasure to show our regular guests, so many of the improvements and small touches to enhance the experience for you.
Itinerary Two is about to offer some exciting new anchorages and we have now added Vashugiri Anbara. Vashugiri offers fantastic snorkelling for both beginners and the more experienced. The dive sites are still being explored and we will let you know more, very shortly. We are excited to find so many new and exciting dive sites. On the way to see the whale sharks, we will now stop at Anbara. Again, fantastic snorkelling on the Southern and Western points and there are many dive options in the area.
The Fish Club is growing rapidly and it has been an honour to recognize so many local guests. I am also pleased to announce some amazing deals for summer season sailing so please do consider this time of the year and I hope to welcome you back on board very shortly.
Making Waves
Ever wondered what happens underwater once the sun sets? Our weekly night snorkelling programme gives you the chance to find out! Armed with a powerful torch, let yourself be amazed at how intense the reef becomes at night. Nocturnal creatures come out of hiding, making the reef their own for the night. This is suitable for advanced snorkellers and subject to weather conditions.
For more information on diving and snorkeling, please feel free to check out our new snorkelling and diving factsheet.
As you will notice, we have updated our website and started a facebook fan page. Much of our focus is on improving the word of mouth from our guests and to complete this, we will be adding some additional small touches to the guest experience and looking at ways that we can recognise our return guests.
Snorkellers Log
After so much positive feedback in our change of programme in Itinerary One, we have decided to look for other exciting changes. Hence, we are pleased to introduce two new and fabulous snorkelling locations in our Itinerary 2 schedule.
Vashugiri
The best place to snorkel at Vashugiri is all around the island but very best is South end of the island. For experienced snorkellers who wish to go outside the reef, you have to use the cut through where the boat crosses the reef, especially at low tide when the reef is too shallow to cross. Make sure you swim against the current first so it is easy to get back to the cut through.
Anbara
Depart from Vashugiri to Anbara where its best snorkelling sport is on the South and South West side of the island. For experienced snorkellers, there is a gap in the coral where the boat enters the lagoon. If you turn left when you go through the gap, there is plenty to see but check the direction of the current to make sure you can swim back to the beach easily. It is also very nice on the far side of the island at high tide but only if the sea is calm.
